Great Expectations Doula Training
Do you feel the calling to support mothers through their childbirth journey? Do you have a passion for pregnancy and a desire to support this this transformative time in the life of a family? Do you have a deep desire to educate and empower the women around you to birth in a powerful and beautiful way (and help them to avoid birth trauma)?

Taught by a Registered Nurse (veteran Labor and Delivery Nurse) and doula of 20 years, this course has been developed through the review of another high quality course (New Beginnings Doula Training) and helps to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to support mothers in your local community.

The course is taught over two weekends (Friday and Saturday). Additional requirements include prerequisite reading, creating resources lists, attending a birth class, completing implicit bias and cultural competence trainings, connecting with a mentor doula for a total of 12 months, and attending three births with birth packet submissions. Once your requirements are complete and we have a recommendation from your mentor doula, you certification is issued and is good for two years.

Cost for the two-weekend workshop is $400. At the time of registration, a $50 deposit is required. The balance is due on the first day of class.

Certification can be renewed every two years at a cost of $50. Requirements for recertification are attendance of 1 birth in the previous year and 20 continuing education credits in the pregnancy, labor, birth, or postpartum fields (CEUs can be obtained through independent online or in-person trainings).

If essential oils are to be used in practice, an Essential oil course is also required.
